Unfortunately, therapists who behave in this way are likely to cause considerable distress. A small minority of therapists will even go so far as to attempt to change their client’s sexual orientation . This can be deeply damaging." No kidding. What profession was the first to practice, and remains the last, to allow "reparative therapy?"<BR/><BR/>Even psychiatrists hesitate to call themselves "scientists," and for very good reason. Where's the <B>evidence? </B> Not simply for the outrageous "pathology" and "cures" before 1973 enlightenment voted differently, but for what they're about and what they do in the name of "helping others?" As they themselves cite, which theory, if any, explains anything they do? Biomedical? Sociocultural? Psychoanalytic? Cognitive? Chaos? Plus another fifty different "untestable" theories. Not even astrology is so deficit of a theoretical, and "testable," theoretical basis. To consider this practice "science" really stretches the imagination. Most of us concede it is unsubstantiated, uncorrelated metaphysics -- but, then, so is "faith."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
