It might work better than it does in creating "ex-gays" and it might prevent them from doing further damage as they mess with peoples' lives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27612445.post-31143601640647607072007-11-16T18:27:00.000-06:002007-11-16T18:27:00.000-06:00Since primacy of conscience is the real guidance t...Since primacy of conscience is the real guidance to follow, why is it so important to make sure (is this an obsession?) that the bishops get it right?

Frankly, why do you care?

YOU get it right and the primacy of conscience says it is the only thing that matters, so just go with it and put your energies in the important items, not on "converting the bishops".

Chagri LamaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27612445.post-64767474345744613682006-11-19T22:47:00.000-06:002006-11-19T22:47:00.000-06:00Isn't it amazing how much they obsess about Paul's...Isn't it amazing how much they obsess about Paul's unfortunate obiter dicta in Romans 1 and how they never, never quote Matthew 23?Spirit of Vatican IIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02337008259824424403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27612445.post-77446959828688011792006-11-17T09:43:00.000-06:002006-11-17T09:43:00.000-06:00I hosted a monthly prayer group meeting in my home...I hosted a monthly prayer group meeting in my home last night, and as we broke bread and reflected on the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we discussed the latest bishops' meeting in Baltimore.

The group was composed of people working in Pax Christi, CISPES, a ministry to homeless and poor residents of Washington, DC, and the Catholic Church reform arm of the Quixote Center.

The overarching response to the bishops' preoccupation with sexual purity codes, and the doctrinal purity of hymns was outrage. Outrage that our church is being highjacked by men who no longer recognize Jesus as the head of the church. They fail to comprehend the reality that his most sweeping condemnations were reserved for the men who tried to separate God's people from the temple; or worse, they simply do not care.

The bishops who voted aye on the so-called "guidelines for pastoral ministry" to homosexuals are not only unpastoral, they are wilfully ignorant and utterly determined to preserve their ignorance and indifference to the very people Jesus came to proclaim the Good News to: the poor, the sick, the marginalized, and those considered ritually unclean. If anything, they want GLBT Catholics to participate in their own oppression. It is sick, sick, sick.

I invite you to read over the united response of Catholic reform groups who share with you great concern over the bishops treatment of homosexual Catholics.

GLBT men and women are our sisters, our brothers, our parents, and our children. We stand with you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
