Prayer of the Week

The following prayer is adapted from one shared earlier today, Transfiguration Sunday, at the Spirit of St. Stephen’s Catholic Community.

We pray with all who know transfiguring change.
We pray with all whose lives have been changed
by a vision, a dream or a teacher.
We pray with all for whom a physical challenge
has changed their lives.
We pray with all parents whose lives are changed forever
with the arrival of a child.
With pray with all partners, lovers, husbands and wives
whose lives are changed forever in the presence of unearned love.
We pray with all whose lives are transformed by friendship.
We pray with all who know the transforming power of Mother Earth.
We pray with all who mourn the loss of anything, especially loved ones.
We pray in hope that our transfigured hearts will lead to transformed actions
in restoring the treasure of our beautiful, fragile planet.
We pray with all who consciously make transfiguring choices
and all who are surprised by the consequences of their choices.
We pray in gratitude for the Holy Spirit who opens our hearts
to the possibility of change over and over again.
We pray in gratitude for the wisdom of our elders,
those who have lived long enough to reflect
on the magnitude of transformation.
We pray with all who thrive on change
and all who fear the very thought of it.
We pray with all who abuse substances
in an attempt to deny or ignore change.
We pray with all whose mental capacity or illness
makes even small changes so very difficult.
We pray with all who love someone difficult to love;
may that love change the world.
