. . . I don't for a moment believe that this document is inspired by any genuine pastoral concern. It is a holding operation, to please the Vatican, and is clearly not based on any open discussion with gays and lesbians, or any consultation with sources other than rightwing organizations such as Courage. The authors of the document have projected their own neuroses, and have shown no empathy, no understanding, no basic humanity, in their pronouncements.

  1. I wonder what the approval of same sex marriage in many places will mean for gay Catholic teens. The
    Church needs to be aware that this will give hope to gay young people. Sadly, the letter by the Canadian bishops seems to imply that human sexuality is something evil, especially when it come to gay people or the "same sex attracted" as they sneeringly refer to them.
