Brian, I took this photo as I was walking through Loring Park on my way to do phone banking at the Minneapolis office of Minnesotans United for All Families.
When I was a child, we spent our summers at the lake. A little lake with a bay full of cattails - and redwing blackbirds. We would go over there and pick a huge bundle of cattails and stuff them in a milk pail that mom painted orange and place it on the deck for decoration. In autumn the blackbirds would gather there in a huge flock and converse. Oh how pictures do open our cabinets. How I long for blackbirds in summer...
great photo! Where did you take it?
