A crisis triggers underlying issues and is a response to accumulated layers of trauma. [The crisis we're experiencing today is] not just about George Floyd, but about a string of similar deaths that went before his. It’s not just about race, but about economic and social injustice in general; about health care and food and education and college loans and criminal injustice and more. It’s not just about Trump, but about a political class that has acted for years as though it doesn’t really give a damn.
What is happening in America now was completely predictable to anyone who had the eyes to see.
