Now here’s an appropriate song for this evening’s Wild Reed’s “Music Night” spot – not only because of the “vision of a man that border[ed] on divine” that I witnessed this morning, but because I could really do with a break from the wet and muggy weather we’ve been experiencing here in the Twin Cities these past few days.

“Break in the Weather” is the opening track of Jenny Morris’ 1991 album Honeychild. Co-written with her youngest brother Tam, it reached Number 2 in the Australian music charts and Number 5 in New Zealand. Honeychild was Morris’ third album, and it became her second consecutive Top Ten album, peaking at Number 5 in both Australia and New Zealand. Sessions musicians on the album included Wendy Matthews (a popular and well-respected vocalist previously highlighted at The Wild Reed) and Midnight Oil’s Jim Moginie. Along with “Break in the Weather, Honeychild spawned three more hits for Morris – “I’ve Had You,” “Zero,” and “Crackerjack Man.”
