Quote of the Day

Papa Francesco recently Tweeted some good words: “Inequality is the root of all social evil.” The Pope has said a lot for economic parity and against futile materialism and power-grubbing, which is all refreshing. But what about the Church’s own flagrant inequality? How does this organization maintain a sovereign city-state and get special status at the UN while publicly denying humans any leadership (priesthood and up) roles based on sex?

There’s still a lot to be said for primate displays (big hats and sticks), dazzling pageants and “we’re number one” bluster, apparently. But maybe while you’re on the Internet, Your Holiness, you could take a moment to Google “equality” and see what comes up.
