Friends, it’s been a great first day in New Hampshire!
As you may recall from my previous post, my friend Kate and I travelled this morning to New Hampshire from Minnesota to campaign for Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson in the Granite State’s “First in the Nation” presidential primary. We even got to meet the future Madam President herself this evening! And, yes, she’s as real and authentic as her message.
And what is Marianne Williamson’s message?
Here’s one expression of it from the woman herself . . .
Americans should not have to limit our political imaginations. The idea that our economy is doing well is contradicted by the experience of millions of Americans.
Current policies fall vastly short of the genuine economic reform we need. As long as corporate profits take precedence over the good of the people, vast suffering will mark America’s economic landscape. It’s time to join every other advanced democracy in providing universal healthcare, tuition free college and tech schools, free childcare, paid maternity and sick leave, and a livable wage.
The majority of Americans are demonstrably a little bit left of center. The problem is that we have a political system which is more beholden to the short-term profits of their corporate donors than to the will of their own constituents. Their idea of an acceptable candidate is someone who will perpetuate the system as it is. What we need in a president is someone who will disrupt that system.”
Right: At Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport early this morning – New Hampshire bound!
My friend Kate and I will be in New Hampshire for five days. We'll be attending speaking events by Marianne in a number of cities as well as working with her campaign by bannering, distributing informational flyers about her candidacy, and helping set-up for her speaking events.
This evening, Kate and I attending a talk and Q&A session by Marianne at South Church, a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Portsmouth, NH. Following are some images from this event.
Following is an interview that Marianne gave earlier today to Neil Cavuto on his Fox News show.
