Quote of the Day

We should give more consideration to the quality of homosexual relationships. . . . A stable relationship is certainly better than if someone chooses to be promiscuous.

Archbishop of Vienna,

How soon do you think he will be silenced?

I can't see them silencing a Cardinal. On the other hand, it's almost unheard of for one Cardinal to criticise another, so who knows what will happen.

I wonder what this will do to his chances of becoming pope; he's long been on many people's list of papabile.

Thanks for sharing the links, Michael. I checked them out. Very interesting.

One has to avoid becoming overly enthusiastic, or overly laudatory. Sometimes we gays, seeking approval from hierarchs so much, we rejoice at even the slightest shift of nuance from the Church. Still...I believe this cardinal has been known as a "conservative," and this sort of declaration from a conservative will get noticed. One cardinal will be ignored, but if the European cardinals would unite on this, you WOULD see a shift from the Vatican (American cardinals will go along with wherever the ecclesiastical winds are blowing.).

Well it's obviously the end of the world Michael! Go to confession.

LOL!

Understandably, seems lots of people were interested in this story. Along with hopefully the SOON-to-be "Cardinal" Ravasi, Cardinal Schonborn is now one of my greatest hopes for potential reform and renewal within the Church!
